HONOLULU — The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction alerts the public to road improvement work along Kapiolani Boulevard from Harding Avenue to Atkinson Drive beginning the week of March 5.
Improvements include reconstructing asphalt roads, concrete curbs and gutters, vehicle sensor loops, pavement stripping and tree pruning. Work is expected to be completed in October 2024.
Work hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays. Nighttime work may occasionally take place from 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday through Friday.
Throughout the project period, there will be no morning or afternoon contraflow coning on Kapiolani Boulevard. However, it will resume once the project is completed.
In addition, construction crews and equipment will need to utilize various street parking areas as the project progresses.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to anticipate delays and allow for extra travel time. Observe all posted signs, traffic control devices and onsite police officers.
