First responders were dispatched to Honopu Beach at approximately 1:40 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a helicopter crash, according to a Kauai County news release.

A preliminary report states that a Jack Harter helicopter was carrying one pilot and four passengers crashed at Honopu Beach. One passenger suffered a back injury. 

According to the news release, personnel from the Hanalei fire station and Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 responded to the incident. Rescue 3 assessed the injured person and transported the passenger to Princeville Airport, where American Medical Response personnel were waiting for the patient. 

The three other passengers and the pilot did not report any injuries. They were picked up by another Jack Harter helicopter. 

First responders cleared the scene at approximately 3:40 p.m.

Honopu Beach is located in Honopu Valley, along Kauai’s Napali Coast.
