LAHAINA, Hawaii — The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced nighttime lane closures on Honoapiilani Highway (Route 30) from Kaniau Road to Keawe Street starting 8 p.m. Feb. 26 to 4 a.m. the next day and continuing through March 1.
The closure is needed for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to clean and capture video of the sewer system in Lahaina, according to a news release.
According to HDOT, the right southbound lane on Honoapiilani Highway from Kaniau Road to the intersection of Keawe Street will be closed for three nights and reopen the following day for manhole work in the right lane and on the shoulder.
One southbound lane will remain open.
From 8 p.m. Feb. 29 to 4 a.m. March 1, there will be various localized lane closures on Honoapiilani Highway at the Kapunakea Street and Keawe Street intersections for manhole work.
Nearby county roads will also be closed for the sewer system project:
- The right westbound lane on Keawe Street will close between Honoapiilani Highway to the intersection of Kupuohi Street from 8 p.m. March 1 to 4 a.m. March 2.
- The middle portion of Kupuohi Street will close from 8 p.m. March 2 to 4 a.m. March 3 with a rolling roadblock to facilitate opening manholes in the center of the street.
All lane closures and traffic controls will be placed after 8 p.m. and removed by 4 a.m., according to HDOT.
