HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation announced the Honolulu Board of Water Supply will require a temporary water outage related to continuing work on Makaha Bridge No. 3 (the bridge southeast of Kili Drive).

The temporary outage will affect all customers west of Upena Street in Waianae and take place from 9 p.m. Feb. 28 to 3 a.m. Feb. 29 so the BWS can work on the connection of the main waterline at Makaha Bridge No. 3, according to a news release.

Residents are advised to store water for drinking and other uses that will last throughout the night.

All work is weather permitting.

The HDOT reminds motorists the 24-hour single-lane closure on Farrington Highway (Route 93) at Makaha Bridge No. 3 remains in place through March 22. People can visit the project website for up-to-date closure information.
