HONOLULU – The University of Hawaii and Chamber of Commerce Hawaii present Hawaii Tech Days of Spring 2024 with events through April in response to the high demand for tech jobs. The events aim to connect high school and college students to local companies searching to fill positions in information technology.

“We are deeply grateful to our industry partners, who provide opportunities for our amazing graduates to secure rewarding employment here in Hawaii,” said UH President David Lassner in a news release. “We are committed to collaborate with local employers in equipping our students with the skills they need to enter into and succeed in technology careers that enable them to prosper and contribute to Hawaii.”

The Tech Days events are sponsored by local organizations committed to bolstering Hawaii’s IT workforce such as IT Sector Partnership, CIO Council of Hawaii, Cyber Hawaii, Hawaii Defense Alliance, Thrive HI, the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Association of Computing Machinery Student Chapter.

“Events like Tech Days of Spring are giving students impactful ways to connect with IT employers and prepare for future success in Hawaii’s technology workforce. Through the IT Sector Partnership, the IT industry is coming together to collaborate on workforce development efforts that build a local, skilled IT workforce,” said Sherry Menor-McNamara, president and CEO of Chamber of Commerce Hawaii.

“We hope Hawaii’s young people take full advantage of these events where they can interact with tech professionals, explore diverse career options and match with potential employers,” said Menor-McNamara.

Upcoming February event: Careers in IT and Cyber Fair - 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 21 at UH West Oahu, Campus Center Multi-Purpose Room (C-208)

This event is part of UH West Oahu’s two-day Career Fair opening opportunities to explore career options in the IT and cybersecurity field and connect with businesses and organizations looking to fill internship, practicum, part-time, full-time and volunteer positions. Register and learn about participating employers.

Students unable to attend the event in person can schedule a virtual Zoom chat with participating employers to learn about a career. This virtual option is first come, first serve. A team member will reach out to confirm the time, employer and provide a Zoom link. Register to request a 30-minute time slot.
