HONOLULU — For customers who replace outdated and inefficient toilets with an Environmental Protection Agency WaterSense-labeled model (1.28 gallons per flush or less), the Honolulu Board of Water Supply is offering a limited-time $100 rebate through April 18.

"Low flow toilets will help to preserve our water resources and allow customers to see long-term savings on their water bill," said Ernest Lau, BWS Manager and Chief Engineer, in a news release.

To be eligible for the rebate, BWS customers must provide a proof of purchase receipt. Rebates are limited to four per household and 10 for commercial customers.

According to EPA estimates, 30% of an average home’s indoor water use comes from toilets. An EPA WaterSense model can reduce water use by 20 to 60%.

Information on the rebate is available on the BWS website or contact the BWS Communication Office at 808-748-5041 or email contactus@hbws.org.
