A transformer failure at the Port Island Generating Station resulted in an island-wide outage on Kauai on Thursday afternoon, according to the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative.
According to the utility, power to almost all customers was restored within 90 minutes but, as of 4:30 p.m., scattered outages totaling an area of about 200 meters were still being addressed by KIUC personnel.
