HONOLULU — The Hawaii Department of Transportation stated via news release that all the Honolulu-bound lands of Pali Hawaii (Route 61) are closed as of Wednesday afternoon because of a landslide. Crews are removing debris and assessing the hillside and trees at the location of the landslide.
The department warned that lane closures and diversion of traffic to Kamehameha Highway at Castle Junction could continue through the weekend. HDOT will provide status updates once assessments are completed.
Motorists are advised to use Likelike Highway or the H-3 Freeway to travel between Windward Oahu and Honolulu until further notice.
