HONOLULU — Travel back to a time of the Hawaiian monarchy and experience a 19th century soiree at Iolani Palace during the Queen Kapiʻolani Evening Tours, Dec. 27, 28 and 29.

“Our December evening tours in celebration of Queen Kapiʻolani’s birthday are the only chance for the public to experience Iolani Palace at night,” said The Friends of‘Iolani Palace President & CEO Paula Akana in a release.

“The lights, along with beautiful performances of hula and music, provide a sneak peek into how King Kalākaua and Queen Kapiʻolani entertained visitors from around the world and truly make for an unforgettable visit.”

A special birthday celebration will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27. In addition to the evening tour, the VIP event will feature pupu and drinks, a curated menu by Bubbly & Bleu, entertainment, and unique makana (gift) in collaboration with Eden in Love. Tickets are $100 for ages 21 and over.

Queen Kapiolani Evening Tour prices for Dec. 28 and 29 are $45/adult, $25/children ages 6-12 years and free for children ages 5 and under. Reservations are required with tickets limited to two per adult.

On Dec. 28 and 29, tours will start every 15 minutes running from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Attendees can enjoy performances by Kuʻuipo Kumukahi, Iwalani Apo and Friends, Hālau Hula Ka Noʻeau and others.

Note that Iolani Palace will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 28 and 29 to prepare for the evening tours.
