Upcountry Maui resident and media magnate Oprah Winfrey wasted no time in visiting the War Memorial Stadium, one of the first shelters to open up to the Lahaina wild fire victims, in Wailuku, to show her support Thursday.

She asked the displaced what was needed and proceeded to visit Walmart and Costco to shop for necessities like pillows, cots and toiletries, and brought them back, classic Oprah-style.

According to her publicist, she will do more, formally, as it becomes clear, which funds can be the most helpful for the short- and long-term rebuilding.
