The Hawaii Department of Transportation reports that all eastbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway have reopened following an investigation into an earlier motor vehicle collision that resulted in critical injuries.

Earlier Thursday afternoon, a collision in the eastbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway resulted in the closure of most lanes at the Kaonohi Street overpass. The Hawaii Department of Transportation has warned the public to use alternate routes if possible.

The four lanes and right shoulder lane in the eastbound direction of the H-1 Freeway were closed, with only the right lane is open. Traffic was being rerouted at the Waimalu offramp.

The motor vehicle collision occurred Thursday afternoon. Local media reported that a man in his 80s and an 81-year-old woman are in critical condition; a 23-year-old man is in serious condition. The investigation is ongoing.
