Maui County’s Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division has set up a hotline for residents to call to find out when trash pickups are delayed and need to be rescheduled, according to a news release.

The Missed Trash Pickup Hotline is 808-270-4444. The audio recording is updated daily to provide current information and includes information on landfill closures.

According to County of Maui Department of Environmental Management Director Shayne Agawa, the goal is always to collect refuse on time and keep landfills open, but there are times when it’s not possible either because of weather, mechanical issues or staff shortages.

“We set up the new hotline to provide a simple and convenient way for people to find out when their trash pickups are being rescheduled and when landfills are closed unexpectedly,” said Agawa in the release. “We hope residential collection service customers are able to save time by getting information quickly.”

The Solid Waste Division provides residential curbside refuse pickup and disposal services in Central Maui (including Wailuku, Kahului and South Maui), Makawao (including Kula, Pukalani, Paia and Haiku), Lahaina (West Maui), Hana, Lanai, and Molokai.
