HONOLULU — In its ongoing effort to help Oahu residents who suffered financially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City and County of Honolulu’s Office of Economic Revitalization has scheduled four more in-person events in July for first-time applicants to the city’s Rental and Utility Relief Program, according to a news release.

  • July 7, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Dillingham Plaza, Suite 110, 1505 Dillingham Blvd.
  • July 10, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Ala Wai Golf Clubhouse, second floor, 404 Kapahulu Ave.
  • July 13, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Windward Community College’s Hale Ao Rooms 101-102, 45-720 Keaahala Rd.
  • July 19, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Lanakila Senior Multi-Purpose Center, 1640 Lanakila Ave.

The events are for new applicants and by appointment only. Renters can call any of the following numbers to schedule a time to apply: 808-940-5209, 808-940-6993, 808-940-2838, 808-728-3508, or 808-741-6966.

Applicants should bring a driver’s license, state ID card, or other government-issued ID with a photo, copies of signed Social Security cards for all household members, signed copies of the rental agreement, copies of late rent or utility bills, and the most recent tax documents, pay stubs or other income documents.

New applicants are encouraged to check income limits and eligibility information in the FAQ prior to scheduling an appointment at the RURP website. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Funding is not guaranteed.

The July events were coordinated with the help of Honolulu City Council Chair Tommy Waters, Council Vice-Chair Ester Kiaʻāina, and Council members Radiant Cordero, Calvin Say and Tyler Dos-Santos-Tam.

When the RURP program initially reopened on June 13, it closed just two hours later because of overwhelming demand for assistance from Oahu residents.

Its first in-person event was held on June 24, with four now scheduled for July. Additional in-person events will be announced soon.
