KAPAA, Hawaii — With construction initially expected to finish by late May 2023, the reopening date for the Kapaa Swimming Pool has been pushed to early August, according to Kauai County’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
Renovations began in August 2022, which included replacing and upgrading the pool filtration, recirculation and chlorination systems, as well as repairing the gutter edge and drainage systems. A new plaster finish for the pool’s interior and new deck and lane tile markers were also to be installed.
Pacific Concrete Cutting & Coring, Inc. was contracted for the project. After the work crew removed the tiles and plaster, they found that the pool’s original shell was much more deteriorated than expected.
