WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD, Hawaii — The U.S. Army Garrison announced a 100% ID card check would take place from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 18 for all Army-guarded installations on Oahu to prep for a traffic study to be conducted in June, according to a news release.

U.S. Army Garrison elaborated by saying, “The purpose of this is to officially scan and tabulate the data for incoming personnel to the bases across Oahu for further analysis as it relates to manning requirements,” in an accompanying email.

All vehicle occupants 18 years and older entering the installation will be required to provide proof of identification.

Motorists heading to an Army installation on May 18 are advised to allow for extra commute time. Have ID cards ready for all passengers before arriving at the checkpoint.

Motorists with Army entrances along your route should also plan for additional commute time.

Visitors on May 18 should get a pass in advance from a visitor control center. The Tripler Army Medical Center Visitor Control Center is open 24/7, and the Leilehua Golf Course Visitor Control Center is open 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on weekdays.
