HONOLULU — The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation announced that Apple Maps now reflects current traffic conditions in the construction area along Dillingham Boulevard and Kamehameha Highway.
“HART applauds Apple for the update to its Apple Maps app so that drivers can safely and effectively navigate through the Dillingham and Downtown areas,” said HART Executive Director and CEO Lori Kahikina, P.E. in a news release. “Google Maps and Apple Maps are now providing drivers with accurate information about current traffic conditions in the construction zones.”
Apple Maps users will now find updated navigation information that includes current left-turn restrictions. Google Maps updated its app in April.
According to HART, one traffic lane will be open in both directions on Kamehameha Highway and Dillingham Boulevard between Middle Street and Kaaahi Street 24/7. Left turns from Kamehameha Highway, Dillingham Boulevard and driveways are restricted except for the westbound left turn onto Alakawa Street and the westbound left turn onto Kaaahi Street. Motorists can make left-hand turns onto Dillingham Boulevard only at intersections with a signal.
During weeknights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., alternating intersections in mauka and makai directions will close intermittently. Drivers can access all properties.
TheBus service will continue though bus stops will move as needed. Busses will also access pull-out lanes to keep vehicles moving.
Officers from the Honolulu Police Department will assist motorists and pedestrians through work areas.
