HONOLULU — The Red Hill Joint Task Force said 253 repairs to the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility would need to be completed in order to defuel the facility.
Currently, 129 repairs — a little more than half — have been completed, while 56 have received third-party quality validation and been submitted to the Hawaii Department of Health for approval.
This information was shared in the Red Hill Joint Task Force’s new “defueling dashboard” that appears on its website. According to a release, the dashboard will be updated “regularly,” although no specific timeline was provided.
“The addition of the defueling dashboard to our webpage is an important step in our efforts to keep the public informed about our progress towards safely defueling the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility,” said Vice Adm. John Wade, commander of the Red Hill Joint Task Force. “We are committed to transparency, and this new graphic allows us to share important information as new updates become available.”
The repairs to the Red Hill facility are projected to be completed by May 31, according to the dashboard.
The Red Hill Joint Task Force has previously said the Red Hill fuel tanks will be defueled by June 2024.
