HONOLULU — Oahu motorists driving on Kamehameha Highway will experience five-minute intermittent stops in both directions at Waimea Bay for rock scaling work over two days, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation. Rocks will be dropped from the cliffside from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 22 and 23, but traffic will be accessible in both directions with alternating traffic control.

Crews will set up the work zone on Feb. 21. One lane will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Kamehameha Highway in the northbound direction.

On Feb. 23, work will continue behind barriers along the highway, but occasional closures may be needed to transport materials.

Electronic message boards will be in place to notify motorists of closures, and police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic.
