HONOLULU — Residents having to pay the Oahu Transient Accommodations Tax can now use an improved online payment portal, announced Mayor Rick Blangiardi on Friday.
The City and County of Honolulu’s OTAT team in the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services’ Treasury Division has partnered with Avenu Insights & Analytics to provide improved taxpayer payment support within the department, according to a news release.
The new system will go into effect on March 1. Taxpayers can access the OTAT online payment system and can make payments via credit or debit card and Automated Clearing House. There are no fees for payments via ACH. There is a convenience fee for payments via credit or debit cards. The site also has information and instructions for filing.
Feb. 28 is the last day the current DirectBiller site will accept payments.
The City and County of Honolulu imposed the Oahu County Transient Accommodations Tax on Dec. 14, 2021, at the rate of 3% on gross rental proceeds and/or fair market rental value to those renting transient accommodation for less than 180 days.
