HONOLULU — The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation announced the next phase of a project to improve the pathway along Queen Kapiolani Park will begin in the coming week. Work is being done on a 3/4-mile stretch along Paki Avenue between Monsarrat Avenue and Poni Moi Road to improve circulation, accessibility and safety, according to a news release.
Work will require the closure of one lane of Paki Avenue intermittently. The contractor will also use several parking stalls in the lot across from Paki Hale.
The current phase is scheduled for completion toward the end of summer 2023. Work is being done in phases from Monsarrat Ave. toward Diamond Head. The previous phase improved about a quarter of a mile of the pathway along Honolulu Zoo from Kapahulu Avenue to Monsarrat Avenue in 2021.
