The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Design and Construction announced the renovation of city parks’ parking lots across Oahu will continue in February and March.

The following parks are scheduled for upcoming repaving projects: Asing Community Park, Ulehawa Beach Park, Waimanalo Beach Park, Kawainui Model Airplane Field, and Neal S. Blaisdell Park.

Each project will require about a one-week closure, though the timeline may vary. Asing Community Park’s lot is scheduled to be closed Feb. 13 to 20 while the Neal S. Blaisdell Park lot will require roughly three weeks in March for more extensive work with traffic lights and tree trimming.

Appropriations from City Councilmembers Esther Kia‘āina and Augie Tulba provided most of the funds for these projects. Councilmember Andria Tupola added $750,000 for a complimentary parking lot project at Keaau Beach Park to install vehicular barriers along the interior park road and lot.

Additional repaving for Liliuokalani Botanical Garden and two lots at Kailua District Park will take place later in the year.

Since Sept. 2021, repaving work at the cost of approximately $3.5 million has been completed at 20 parks and garden locations across Oahu.
