LIHUE, Hawaii — Kauai County has launched a handy new online map to help residents track past, current and upcoming road projects across the island. The public can access the Road Resurfacing and Bridge Status map on the Kauai County website and clicking on, “Click Here to Access the Map.”
The Department of Public Works and Information Technology Division created a geographic information system that tracks the progress of projects as part of the county’s Land Information Management System project.
“Because infrastructure is a top priority for our administration, one of our first integrations into LIMS is showcasing the real-time progress of our road resurfacing and status of bridges,” said Mayor Derek Kawakami. “We hope to integrate more infrastructure and other projects into LIMS to make this information easily accessible to the public.”
The online map will enable motorists to avoid construction areas and allows for tracking of past, current and upcoming road projects, in addition to the funds budgeted for road resurfacing and the amount spent to date.
