HONOLULU — The holidays are right around the corner, and the City and County of Honolulu invites residents to submit their creative wreath creations for the 35th Annual Holiday Wreath Contest. This year marks the event’s return as part of the Honolulu City Lights celebration with the theme, “Splashes of Joy.”

Wreaths will be displayed in the Lane Gallery at Honolulu Hale, Dec. 3 to 31.

Participants can enter one of three divisions:

  • Adult - open to individuals or a group with participants 18 years and older
  • Youth - open to ages 17 and under
  • Best in Theme - open to wreaths depicting the 2022 theme, “Splashes of Joy”

Entries will be judged on workmanship, creativity, use of materials and best representation of the contest theme. All three divisions will have a first place prize of $150, second place $100 and third place $75. The wreath judged overall Best in Show will earn the creator the Mayor’s Holly Award of $200. Six Judge’s Choice Awards will also be awarded with a prize of $25. Entrants are eligible for only one award.

Contest rules and entry form (scroll to the last page) are available online. Entries must be turned in from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Nov. 28 at the Lane Gallery located in Honolulu Hale (530 S. King St., Honolulu). A contest entry form must be submitted with each wreath. Early and late entries will not be accepted. Winners will be notified by Dec. 1.
