KAPOLEI, Hawaii — The Queen’s Medical Center West Oahu has completed the first phase of construction on a new comprehensive cancer center.

The 5,472-square-foot center will eventually feature eight exam rooms, seven chemotherapy infusion bays and radiation therapy technologies. This will help oncologists, radiation therapists, registered nurses and social workers provide patients with access to treatments in West Oahu.

A blessing ceremony was held on July 25 for the radiation therapy section of the facility. The next phase of the center will be for infusion services and will be completed by the end of September.

“Expanding our oncology services in West O‘ahu enables us to provide this community with a continuum of care in a healing environment that’s closer to home. The goal is to bring everything to our patients, so they won’t have to travel all over the place for different portions of their treatment,” said Darlena Chadwick, the Chief Operating Officer at The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu, in a press release.
