KAUAI — Kauai residents will be able to receive free COVID-19 home test kits at neighborhood centers throughout the island, Jan. 24-28.

The county is working with the state Department of Health’s Kauai District Health Office to distribute the 15,000 test kits, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be a limit of five tests per individual or household.

Test distribution will be spread out over the coming week:

Monday, Jan. 24

  • Kekaha Neighborhood Center (8130 Elepaio Road): 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

  • Waimea Neighborhood Center (4556 Makeke Road): 1–4 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 25

  • Hanalei Neighborhood Center (5-5358 Kuhio Hwy.): 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

  • Kilauea Neighborhood Center (2460 Keneke St.): 1–4 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 26

  • Hanapepe Neighborhood Center (4451 Puolo Road): 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

  • Kalaheo Neighborhood Center (4480 Papalina Road): 1–4 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 27

  • Anahola Clubhouse (3900 Kawelo St.): 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

  • Kapaa Neighborhood Center (4491 Kou St.): 1–4 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 28

  • Koloa Neighborhood Center (3461 Weliweli Road): 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

  • Lihue Neighborhood Center (3353 Eono St.): 1–4 p.m.

“I sincerely thank our partners with the Department of Health for making this community distribution possible,” said Kauai Mayor Derek Kawakami in a press release issued on Friday. “This, along with the federal distribution of home test kits, will help to ensure availability and access to testing above and beyond what is currently provided by our county operations and private sector providers.
