PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii — Visitors to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial can now set foot onto the USS Arizona Memorial after the repaired shoreside dock was delivered and reinstalled at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial visitor center. Public programs by the National Park Service have resumed as well.
Repairs to the dock will continue to be monitored in an effort to keep visitation to the memorial ongoing, according to a release. However, NPS said that additional repairs may be required and may occur on short notice.
Repetitive actions such as wakes and tidal movements contributed to the dock’s most recent failure. A new shoreside dock is being constructed off-site and installation will take place later this year.
Reservations are not required to enter the visitor center, though they are highly recommended by the NPS for the USS Arizona Memorial programs. Visitors can make reservations via recreation.gov.
The same-day, walk-in, first come, first serve ticket distribution program has been discontinued. Plan your visit by checking out the Pearl Harbor National Memorial website. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status.
