On Lanai, a date has been set for dropping off large bulky items, including metal appliances and electronic waste, according to a Maui County Department of Environmental Management press release.
The collection day is set for Saturday, April 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pulama Lanai Fleet Yard.
Lanai residents are invited to bring refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, air conditioners, tires, batteries, household appliances, metal, propane tanks, televisions, computers, printers, copiers and monitors during the one-day event.
For households, leaving junk is free, while businesses and commercial enterprises will be charged a fee.
Residents are asked to unload their own junk, although staff will be on site with a forklift for large items.
Maui County is planning to tow a limited number of junk cars in partnership with Pulama Lanai, a land and resource management company, through April 8. Call the Pulama Lanai Facilities Department at (808) 565-3974 to request a form for junk vehicle disposal.
