From researching human and plant consciousness to the beat of the Congolese Rumba to the depths of Finland’s frozen lakes, this year’s Maui Film Festival takes viewers on a ride filled with wonder, the fight for a nation’s freedom, overcoming personal trauma and much more.
“Manifesting Magnificent Movies!” is this year’s theme for the Maui Film Festival running Nov. 17-21. The Stardust Cinema at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s A&B Amphitheater features 13 movie premieres being shown on the big screen under the stars.
Gates open at 5 p.m. each day, and the program begins at 5:45 p.m. All attendees must present a vaccination card or photo of one with a matching photo ID. Masks are to be worn at all times. Social distancing will be observed and chairs are provided.
For viewers unable to attend the in-person event, there is an option to catch the Speed-of-Light Virtual Cinema featuring more than 90 short and feature films Nov. 17-Dec. 8 in the comfort of home.
