Kauai County and other state agencies have scheduled free training opportunities as part of the 2022 Virtual Fair Housing Conference for private landlords, realtors, resident managers, property managers, Association of Apartment Owners board members, tenants and the public.
April is National Fair Housing Month and this year’s theme is “Where I Live There Are Rainbows … And Fair Housing.” The sessions will cover the most current federal and state Fair Housing laws.
Sessions will be held virtually via Cisco WebEx Meetings, 10 a.m. to noon, on the following days with topics as shown:
- April 7: Fair Housing 101: An Overview
- April 14: Disability, Reasonable Accommodations and Modifications, and Assistance Animals
- April 21: Case Studies
- April 28: Expert Panel, Question & Answer Session
Experts from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Hawaii Civil Rights Commission and Legal Aid Society of Hawaii will present the most current information and answer questions regarding current Federal and State Fair Housing Laws.
Those interested in participating are asked to register online for the free weekly sessions.
If an auxiliary aid or service or other accommodation is required for each session, make the request when registering. Also register as early as possible to provide adequate time to fulfill the request.
Last year, over 1,000 attendees participated in the conference.
