One of the ways to beat merchandise shipping delays and the recent Amazon Web Services outage is by heading to island arts and crafts fairs. After a glum 2020 holiday season, retail entrepreneurs are ready to welcome holiday shoppers. Here’s a list of upcoming arts and crafts fairs marking the last two weekends before Christmas.
Dec. 10-11: Mahalo I Kau Kumu Holiday Gift Fair & School Supply Drive for Teachers at Ka Makana Alii, 3-8 p.m. Friday and noon-7 p.m. Saturday. Shop for gifts from local artisans and give back to the community at the same time by dropping off school supplies to be distributed to Hawaii teachers.
Dec. 11, 18: Koko Marina Center Craft Fair, Sidewalk Sale & Farmer’s Market, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Featuring over 60 vendors, direct sellers and resellers.
Dec. 11-12, 18-19: Omiyage Market & Gifts presents the OMG Holiday Fair with food and craft vendors at Waimalu Shopping Center, 1-5 p.m., between Waimalu Chop Suey and Chun Wah Kam.
Dec. 11-12, 18-19: Holiday Market & More + Aloha Pet Fair at Ward Village next to Nordstrom Rack, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Shop in air-conditioned comfort; (well-behaved) pets are welcome too.
Dec. 12, 19: Aloha Home Market’s Holiday Market in Kailua, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. both days. Shop small and buy local; featuring furniture makers, jewelry artists, clothing designers, food vendors and more. The event is pet-friendly too. 340 Uluniu St., Kailua.
Dec. 17-23: Holiday Pop-Up Shop in the former Toys R Us space near Down to Earth at Pearlridge Center. More than 25 vendors offering apparel, books, candies, handmade crafts and more. Hours: 4-9 p.m. Friday and Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
Dec. 18: Happy Holidays Market at the Waialua Community Association in Haleiwa, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. This Malama Hawaii Makers Market is a pop-up marketplace featuring a curated collection of premier local artists, makers, designers, collectors, food vendors and more. 66-434 Kamehameha Hwy., Haleiwa.
Dec. 19: Aloha Stadium Craft and Gift Fair, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Find lots of made-in-Hawaii products, clothing, skincare products, packaged snacks, stationery, local foods and more.
Dec. 12, 19, 26: Maui Gift and Craft Fair at Lahaina Gateway (held every Sunday), 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Find photography, jewelry, fine art, crafts and more from more than 50 local Maui artists and vendors, plus keiki activities, food and refreshments.
Dec. 11-12: Kilauea Lodge’s Arts & Crafts Holiday Spotlight at Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. This weekend event features a local artist and/or crafter.
Dec. 12: Princeville Artist & Flea Market at the Princeville Community Center, 3-7 p.m. This event takes place every second Sunday of the month and features art, vintage apparel, accessories, home goods, health products, workshops, a keiki zone, entertainment, food and more. 4334 Emmalani Dr., Princeville.
