Hanalei and Kapaa refuse transfer stations will be temporarily closed — at different times — for scheduled maintenance work, according to a news release.
Both refuse transfer stations are being closed as the trash chutes require maintenance work.
The Hanalei refuse transfer station will close on Sept. 2; the repairs are estimated to take four hours. While the Hanalei transfer station is closed, the Kapaa refuse transfer station will be available for use.
The Kapaa refuse transfer station will only accept bagged trash from Sept. 8 to Sept. 9. While the transfer station is partially closed, the Lihue refuse transfer station will be available for bulky item drop off. Other services, such as green waste, metals and tires, will remain open.
