Severe weather conditions from the recent Kona Low system forced Consolidated Theatres’ Kahala Mall location to close its doors on Tuesday, but they’re reopening Thursday.

What You Need To Know

  • Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours is required for entry and masks are required in common areas and auditoriums unless actively eating or drinking

  • Seating is reservation only by ordering tickets online and can be purchased at the box office or by using the self-service kiosks located in Kahala Mall

Most of the Kahala Mall tenants weren’t affected, but Consolidated Theatres closed temporarily as a safety precaution, according to local media reports.

The theater had reopened earlier this month following a nearly two-year renovation project that was further stalled by operational and construction delays due to governmental directives in response to COVID-19, according to businesswire.com.

The refurbished theater features electric-powered, oversize recliners in all eight auditoriums that are spaced to increase social distancing. A new cafe and bar offers table and counter service within a newly designed lobby, and there’s also a new beverage menu.

Consolidated Theatres operates nine locations in the state, and is one of two major movie theater chains in Hawaii.
