TEXAS – Despite a sweltering summer in Texas, the Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a teeth-chatting winter.

The winter forecast details the long-range weather outlook with frigid temperatures nationwide, including the Southeast.

According to the almanac, conditions will start chill in late September. By the time winter hits, the state will see stinging cold and wet conditions.

Breaking down the forecast day by day, Oct. 4 through 7 is expected to have cold heavy rain for the Texas Gulf Coast. Wet weather will then return from Oct. 24 through 27 with rapidly spreading showers.

Last year, the state of Texas was surprised with an unusual amount of snowfall. In Austin, there was a record 1.9 inches of snow, making it the heaviest snow event in the city in 13 years. For San Antonio, it was the heaviest snow in 32 years.
