Wow, what a Christmas gift!  We told you snow was a possibility but we certainly didn't expect it to turn into such a winter wonderland, with a record 1.9" in the Capitol City making it our heaviest snow event in 13 years in Austin and the highest snow total at the Airport since 1967.  Impressive!  At Camp Mabry, 0.4" snow was reported, and we've seen numerous reports of 1" to 2" totals across the Hill Country, and 3" in Wimberley.

Austin held above 32 until 6 a.m., so we're watching for potential ice for a brief amount of time this morning then, as skies clear out, here comes the big thaw.  Temperatures will rise fairly quickly to highs in the mid and upper 50s this afternoon, our warmest in two days.  Under mostly clear skies, some areas could see a light freeze again tonight through tomorrow morning then very comfortable, seasonable 60s will be the story the next few afternoons.  Our normal high for this time of year is 64, and I'm calling for 65 tomorrow then 66 Sunday.

A couple of dry, rather benign cold fronts look to make it into Texas next week but without much fanfare.  We're expecting cool mornings and mild afternoon, as seen on the 7 Day Forecast.
