The display came after Steve Monreal's intial demonstration that involving the mini trees which inspired the movement.

The city's decision to relocate its 55-foot Christmas tree to Travis Park, a couple of blocks away from the Alamo, was made in order to accommodate expected construction, officials said.

"This is just an organized way of telling city officials, don’t mess with us, don’t mess with the Alamo and don't mess with Texas," said protester Gina Castaneda.

Not long after the announcement was made to move the tree back in October, the city made a concession, promising a smaller, 18-foot tree, in addition, that has been up since last Monday.

Protesters plan to donate the miniature trees they collected to those in need.
