SAN ANTONIO, Texas - It was earlier announced that this year’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be moved from in front of the Alamo to downtown’s Travis Park.

The event, set for Friday, Nov. 24, will be combined with Centro San Antonio’s Annual Lighting of Travis Park.

A release states the 2.6-acre Travis Park offers more space than Alamo Plaza, which will make it easier for people to find parking.

In addition, H-E-B will continue to sponsor an 18-foot Christmas tree in Alamo Plaza, and the City will continue to decorate Alamo Plaza with holiday lights.

The tree lighting ceremony is free and open to the public. Travis Park will be decorated with more than 250,000 holiday lights as well as custom-made ornaments.
