It’s playoff time in Orchard Park for the Buffalo Bills as they begin what they hope is a long postseason run against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.

This is the sixth consecutive season the Bills have made the playoffs, but they’ve only reached as far as the conference championship game once during that span. Past playoff disappointments still sting, but it’s a fresh opportunity to write a new story on the way to the ultimate prize.

"There’s very few teams that go on a clean, straight line in terms of their path to their goals," head coach Sean McDermott said. "Most of the time there’s a journey of some ups and downs and some learns as you go through things as you go through things and deal with some adversity. So, no different for us in that way. We learn from it. We embrace and we try to your point to keep things as consistent as possible especially this time of year."

"I just feel like this team, this year is in a different space than we were last year," cornerback Rasul Douglas added. "I feel like last year we kind of peaked too early, This year I think we’re just playing ball and we haven’t peaked at all. We haven’t played our best game."

League MVP-candidate Josh Allen has been great for much of his career in the regular season, but he’s often soared to new levels in the playoffs - 27 total touchdowns to just four interceptions - and his postseason passer rating is number 7 all-time.

"We continue to with the preparation that we’ve had all year. I think it’s a quote that my college coach had ‘You dance with who brung ya.’ We don’t have to do more or less and just try to continue doing what we’re doing and making sure we’re executing at a high level," Allen said.

As far as injuries, kick returner Brandon Codrington did not practice Wednesday. Amari Cooper was back with the team after missing the game last week with a person matter, and defensive captain Terrel Bernard is quote “good to go” according to McDermott.
