This year Brockport's roster is teaming with new faces. After making it to the class semifinals in 2017, the Blue Devils graduated 18 seniors, a group with overwhelming post season experience.

"You know that was the same group that were leading our team as sophomores in 2015 when we won sectionals," said Head Coach Scott Nugent.

With those spots to fill, coaches promoting JV players up the ladder. Now it's just about getting them ready for the level of competition.

"The speed is going to be a lot different from JV, because most of these guys are coming up from JV. It's just going to be different when they first game comes, then hopefully the rest of the season they'll be ready," said senior Dom Polizzi.

There's also some new faces on the coaching staff. Joe Innes was brought up to Varsity to coach receivers, special teams and defensive backs.

"I've had the chance to work with a lot of the young guys that are now moved up, I'm looking forward to it, we have a good group of kids. We're obviously looking to build off our success we've had in the past," said Innes.

And all that new blood is bringing a new energy to the Blue Devils.

"Really, we just have a lot of energy everyday when we come out on the field. Just getting really hyped, yelling, screaming so we're having fun, that's the best part," said Polizzi.

"Our main thing is just energy always up, going rowdy, making it fun for the guys. It's fun to be here," said senior Kyle Palka.

They're hoping that energy can carry them back to the post season, a road that just got a little tougher with five class AA teams dropping down to A.

"It's going to be tough this year with a lot of teams moving down from AA, but I think if we continue to execute, have that high energy, we can compete," said Palka.

The Blue Devils open their season at Greece Arcadia, Friday, August 1.
