Rochester police have released new details in the investigation into the mass shooting in Maplewood Park in July.

According to the department, they have identified an individual who was armed and fired a handgun in the park at the time of the incident. Police say Niger Johnson, 20, is wanted on charges of first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police do not allege that any of the shots fired by Johnson struck any of the victims.

The RPD is currently asking the public for help in locating Johnson.

“Any information that leads to the arrest of Mr. Johnson, you may be eligible for a cash reward," Rochester Police Capt. Frank Umbrino said. "More importantly, it’s the right thing to do. And we need to get Mr. Johnson, put him in cuffs and put him in jail.”
