Rochester Police have identified the 18-year-old man who officials say drown at Durand Eastman Beach this past weekend as Steven Yarier Mojica, of Rochester.
Four agencies responded shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday for a report of a drowning.
Rochester Police say the man had been pulled from the water by nearby swimmers. The good samaritans performed CPR until medical personnel arrived. He was transported to Rochester General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The circumstances around the drowning are still under investigation.
This comes after it was announced that supervised swimming would return to Durand Eastman Beach Saturday.
Police say the drowning happened outside the designated swimming area.
