ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A local organization is holding a clothing drive Sunday to support the residents affected in the Hague Street fire earlier this week.
The Teoronto Lodge will be hosting the clothing drive at 357 Gregory Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Organizers are asking for new and gently used clothing, shoes or monetary donation for children and adult sizes.
On Memorial Day, officers were responding to a separate call in the area of Hague Street when they saw a house on fire.
The Rochester Police Union says the officers broke into the home helping get several people out. Firefighters later found a 12-year-old boy inside. He died at a local hospital.
Two adults and six children were able to get out of the home before the fire department got to the scene. Several officers were treated for minor injuries and the residents were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The fire department says the home is a total loss.
