Erie County has announced the expansion of pistol permit services for residents.

County Clerk Michael Kearns says that starting on Nov. 12, pistol permit applications will be accepted at the Erie County Clerk's Outreach Center.

The goal is to make the process more convenient and accessible for Erie County residents who don't want to have to drive downtown to turn in their applications.

"People love these services,” said Kearns. “Going downtown can be quite cumbersome. [It] could be, you know, a challenge for many different people, especially in the wintertime. So it's just so convenient."

Kearns also says that starting on Nov. 18, Erie County will also be opening another satellite facility at the Cheektowaga Auto Bureau.
