Several fire departments were called to an apartment building on Falmouth Street in Greece Friday.

Officials believe the fire started in a basement and spread through the walls into the first and second floors.

It took firefighters about an hour to put out the fire.

In all, 12 units were affected.

The Barnard fire chief said the fire was tricky to fight because the building is one of the oldest in the area.
