With a high wind warning in effect until Wednesday evening in Monroe County, local towns are preparing for winds as high as 65 miles per hour in some areas.

“The good news is that predictions are not coming out of the north east, which is what causes severe wave action,” said Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich

According to Reilich, the town is more concerned with possible power outages. Crews are on standby in case emergency services are required.

“We want to be ready and we want to be prepared for whatever comes our way,” said Reilich.

If there are power outages, the town will open its community center for shelter.

Experts warn that damaging winds will bring down numerous trees, potentially causing power outages.
