ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The city of Rochester has sent the Rochester Rhinos a stadium eviction letter.
The USL professional soccer team is being ordered out of Capelli Stadium by the end of February.
Team co-owners David and Wendy Dworkin announced last November the team would not play in 2018 due to financial difficulties.
Now the city is claiming that by not taking the field, the Rhinos organization is in default of its lease agreement.
The Dworkins do not agree, saying the rent is paid in full and that all of the lease terms are being met.
They expressed disappointment with having to spend resources on a legal battle instead of focusing on staffing and marketing expenses.
