ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Thursday's temperature of 20 degrees in downtown Rochester will have felt warm by this time Friday.

Forecasters say cold temperatures along with strong winds may drive wind chills as low as 30 below zero in the coming days. Then add on the lake effect snow and we are in for a brutally cold weekend.

At American Medical Response, paramedics are getting ready to handle cold weather calls. First responders say it's crucial for people to limit their outdoor activities.

"Probably twenty minutes in this weather and it doesn't take long where they start to feel their toes tingling or their fingers feeling numb and when you start to feel that, it's time to go in," said LaShay Harris, Public Information Officer for American Medical Response.

The county is also urging residents to use common sense.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says the office of emergency management has been monitoring the weather patterns.

"Right now, we're hearing from the National Weather Service that we will have some snow, we will have some visibility issues. We're telling people take extra steps, be cautious, leave extra time if you're driving tomorrow."
