GREECE, N.Y. -- After a lengthy process the Town of Greece has its first brewery, called Wood Kettle Brewing.
“We’re just so excited to open to the community and let everybody show their excitement and we’ve had an outpouring of attention,” says Jeff Allen who is one of two co-owners. His father was one of the founders of Wood Kettle Brewing.
The grand opening featured 5 flagship beers readily available on tap, including a blonde ale, brown ale, rye pale ale, an IPA and porter.
Partner Mark Miles says that it took a year and a half of planning and hard work to make the microbrewery a reality.
“We went through a number of hurdles with equipment and personal issues but here we are,” says Miles.
Miles says it was a no-brainer to open a microbrewery in Greece after recognizing the demand mixed with his own passions for brewing
“There was really nothing close by here,” said Miles. “You have to travel on the other side of town and so on. We liked brewing and we finally decided to get into it and have something local.”
With the success of the opening, both owners say they are hopeful the local interest will continue to grow.
Miles says the next goal is to get up to eight beers on tap at all times while rotating between two to three seasonal selections.
