ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Looking to spread some holiday cheer? It's possible through Catholic Family Center's Adopt-a-Family program.

Some 150 families are part of this year's event. The center is looking for folks to adopt them and get gifts now.

Those interested can find a family online along with their wishlist. Items that are always needed include winter jackets, hats and mittens. Also, non-perishable food items are welcome, too.

"At Christmas time, when school is no longer in session, a lot of the children are not getting their hot lunch, hot breakfast, so food pantry items are also required,” Kathy Grant with Catholic Family Center explained. “All this information is on our website with ideas with what people can sign up to do based on what's in their heart and what they can do this season."

Donations will be accepted starting December 11. Drop off locations will be made available once a family is picked. The deadline is Decmember 18.
