ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The fate of additional state funding to upgrade the Blue Cross Arena is still unclear.
The Governor's extender budget included $500 million for the second phase of the Buffalo Billion, but no mention as of yet for projects in the Rochester region.
The state awarded $10 million to the city to help upgrade the arena this past June, but local state lawmakers were hoping to get additional state money to upgrade the aging concert and sports venue.
There have been reports the owners of the Rochester Americans have looked elsewhere because of the current state of the Blue Cross Arena.
Pegula Sports and Entertainment says discussions for a long term agreement are continuing and they hope to "compete in an improved facility that meets necessary arena standards."
