ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Monroe County Clerk’s Office is offering assistance to pistol permit holder needing to recertify their permit.
The office says it has public computers with access to the recertification site, and county employees on site to assist.
County Clerk Adam Bello says there are more than 50,000 pistol permit holders in the county, and based on the New York State Safe Act, those permit holders are required to be recertified by State Police every five years.
The office says permits issued on or before January 15, 2013, will have until January 31, 2018 to recertify.
The Monroe County Office Building is located at 39 West Main Street downtown.
